Jane Pollak's story is an odyssey that led her from remote craft fairs to the White House and appearances on NBC's Today Show. Jane will discuss her book, Soul Proprietor: 101 Lessons from a Lifestyle Entrepreneur. Jane will candidly share lessons learned over 25 years of entrepreneurship, revealing the secrets to success and inspiring women to create a passionate business life that is balanced and truly meaningful.

Here is an excerpt from her book:

Lesson 56
From Jane Pollak's
Soul Proprietor:
101 Lessons from a Lifestyle Entrepreneur

Go! You might meet somebody!

Typically at a craft show, customers entered my booth, got a feel fro my work, and often took out their eyeglasses from a pocket or purse to examine my work more closely. Ata festival in a nearby town, I observed one customer's less typical behavior. After glancing at the designs on the front of my brooches, she flipped them over and peered at the reverse side. After spending several minutes doing this, she asked me what material I was using to fill the concave area of the eggshell.

I went into a detailed explanation of epoxy --a resin that is complicated to use, requiring precise measurement and application. She nodded. She owned a company that packaged epoxy in pre-measured units. They would be much easier to use and would improve production of my eggs.

Because she enjoyed my work she offered to swap her epoxy for my jewelry. I accepted her offer and for years exchanged my products for hers. It was a mutually satisfying and financially rewarding relationship.

I know I when I show up -- participate in a craft show, attend a networking event, or simply follow through on a commitment to have lunch with a friend --something always happens, and the universe will meet me.

The cost for this event will be $25 at the door. This will include one copy of Jane's book as well as food and refreshments.  There are only 20 spots so please reserve your spot as soon as possible.
